Group Hug

Hakomi has been taught and practiced worldwide for over 30 years. It combines body-oriented techniques with verbal interventions supported by unique guiding principles. These principles--body-mind holism, mindfulness, non-violence, unity and organicity--create a gentle and respectful frame for inner exploration, personal growth, and the gentle and deep transformation of unconscious core material.

All of our trainings are experiential and include time for practice. Teaching assistants provide supervision in a safe, gentle and encouraging learning environment. Included in our trainings are new findings and applications from the fields of trauma, attachment and developmental and interpersonal neuroscience.

We also provide workshops and retreats for the general public that utilize mindfulness to explore our essential selves, our relationships with each other with our natural environment and with ourselves.

Mindfulness in Counseling and the Healing Arts – The Hakomi Method

Join psychotherapist, professor, author and international speaker, Rob Fisher, MFT in this one day workshop in which we will explore and experience some practical approaches for using mindfulness in psychotherapy and the healing arts. Through the use of lecture, demonstration, experiential exercises and practices you will learn how attention to the present moment with compassion and without agenda can deepen healing arts sessions exponentially.

Learn how to use present moment experience as a gateway to join deeply wihth clients, and explore their internal models of life, relationships and the self. Explore how the body provides rich information about the psyche, and a simple approach to invoking mindfulness that can help lead a client on an internal journey of pseronal discovery.

Mindfulness is one of the most powerful and effective tools in counseling.  It assists them to gently access and talk about deep levels of delicate material that underlie the repetitive patterns in which they become mired in their lives. Working experientially and somatically adds significant depth, impact and aliveness for therapist and client alike.

This workshop is an opportunity to learn the basic skills of Hakomi, a method that has been using mindfulness and the body for over 30 years.

What You Will Learn

  • Tracking & contacting – how to track and use somatic cues like tone of voice, gestures, facial expressions and body posture to access unconscious material  and deeply held implicit psychological blueprints of the self, others and what it means to be alive in the world
  • Mindfulness – how to induce a specific state of consciousness that helps clients deepen their awareness
  • Present Moment Live Experience – using experiential exercises as a way to explore client’s issues in a direct and tangible way that quickly go to the heart of the issue

For Whom

The workshop is open and relevant to anyone in the healing arts -  psychotherapists, body workers, counselors, pastoral counselors, coaches, social workers, psychiatrists and others.
