MAKING FRIENDS WITH ANGER

General Information

Anger, like all emotions, has energy that naturally wants to move and express itself. Many of us, out of fear, repress this energy and, as a result, feel cut off from our own deep sense of wholeness and power. Developing a positive relationship with this misunderstood emotion means taking responsibility for its presence in our lives and learning ways to express it, thus leading to a greater sense of empowerment and intimacy with ourselves and others.

Description
This safe, supportive, fun and experiential workshop is designed for those who seek effective tools and greater comfort in dealing with anger in themselves, others, and/or with their clients.

Objectives
In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How anger can become a good friend and powerful ally
  • How to recognize our own natural feelings of anger and what to do with them
  • Somatic and spiritual methods to work with and transform anger
  • Models for constructively expressing anger that leave us feeling empowered and effective.

Prerequisites (any one of the following):
To attend this workshop, please have experience in any one of the of the following: 1) some exposure to Hakomi (either from attending a workshop or training or have been in therapy with a Hakomi trained therapist or have read Ron Kurtz's book, Hakomi, Body Oriented Psychotherapy), or 2) experience with mindfulness, or 3) permission of the instructor.

This workshop is more appropriate for individuals seeking greater comfort and familiarity with anger rather than those with impulse control or anger management issues. The workshop is open and relevant to both clinicians and the general public.
