Information |
This training presents the skills and principles
of Hakomi Experiential Psychology, and the unique
intervention and treatment strategies which follow
from them. Participants will be trained in the precise
moment-to-moment elegance of working with mindfulness
in psychodynamic psychotherapy.
In addition, because Hakomi is dedicated to the
aliveness of both client and therapist, great emphasis
is placed both on the attachment based nature of
the therapeutic relationship, and on the ground
of being from which the therapist works.
Topics Covered
- To provide brief, in-depth psychotherapy using
the present moment and live experience
- How to design and utilize interventions to access
and transform core models of the self, others and
the world
- To apply the art of tracking non-verbal communication
from the unconscious
- To apply mindfulness and experiential methodologies
to address safety, self regulationand relationship
skills
- To use the body to access unconscious material
- Approaches to working with content, movement,
gesture, voice and pace
- Non-invasive techniques to work directly with
resistance and psycho-emotional defenses without
opposing them
- Techniques to deepen towards core psychological
material
- To work with transference/countertransference
systems in respectful and experiential ways that
enhance curiosity and aliveness in the relationship

utilize the attachment relationship within the
therapeutic container
- Contemporary neuroscience
models for Mindfulness based interventions
- To distinguish
developmental vs. traumatic injuries
- Mindful tools
to renegotiate trauma states. And proven techniques
for somatic resourcing
- To help the client embody
and process regressed states towards resolution
of long term issues and behaviors
- To design interventions
to access and transform core models of the self,
others and the world
- Sophisticated maps for understanding
client psychological predispositions.
Style of Teaching
This training is taught through short talks and
experiential excersises, supervised practice and
live demonstration. Emphasis is on application of
the method to existing clinical situations and building
of clinicial skills. The training is designed for
students to have a confidence level with the Hakomi
method in their practice and application of the work.

9:00am to 5:00 pm each day.
Cost
Early Enrollment: $2,000 for each module ($4,000 for
both modules) for those who send in their $400 non-refundable
deposit by October 1, 2010 for Module One. Normal
Registration: add $200 per module. Visa and MasterCard
accepted. Repeating students may enroll for one half
the cost of tuition. Limited student scholarships
available.

CEUs
MFT & LCSW: This training meets the requirments for 65
units per module of continuing education for MFT's and LCSW's in California.
Nurses: Eva Geidt, RN, (Provider
#14707) is co-sponsor of this training, which is
approved by the California Board of Nursing for
65 hours of continuing education credits per Module.
Refund Policy
Any student may withdraw from the Training within one
week (7 days) after the endof the first training weekend
and receive an eighty (80) percent refund of the tuition
less the non-refundable deposit of $400. After that,
no refunds will be granted.

Weekend
1
Underlying Principles, Attachment and the Therapeutic
Relationship. The art of tracking non-verbal communication
from the unconscious. Core models of the world. Internal
organization of the therapist
Weekend 2
Stages of the therapeutic process. Categories of
experience. Contact: working with the present experience.
Joining with the client at the level of their experience-deeper
than words. Attachment Theory: implications for
Intervention and Assessment.
Weekend 3
Deepening techniques towards core material. Use of
Mindfulness in psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Weekend 4
Experimental attitude of the therapist. Working with
story and storyteller. The experimental therapist:
how to generate and use present moment experiments.
Working with content, posture, movement, gesture
and voice. The use of touch in psychotherapy.The
unfolding of the psyche.
Weekend 5
Understanding defenses: working with resistance without
opposition. Working with barriers to nourishment.
Module Two
Weekend 6
Transformation. Working with the body. Body Reading.
Deciphering internalized meaning levels. Balancing
between insight and experience. The Missing Experiences
in the client: developing a repertoire for self-inquiry
and nourishment. Developmental neurobiology.
Weekend 7
Resourcing the regressed client. Mindfulness based
Interventions for trauma states.Reading the cues
of the traumatized client. Somatic approaches to
trauma resolution. Differentiation of activation
levels. Strategies for modulation and regulation.
Supervised practice.
Weekend 8
Integrating therapeutic gains into everyday life.
Completion of therapy. Working with difficult clients.
Supervised practice.
Weekend 9
Transference/countertransference systems and how
to work with them. Introduction to character theory
for assessment and intervention. Supervised practice.
Weekend 10
Review, personal assessment, supervised practice,
selected applications, completion of the training.

Rob Fisher, MA, MFT is
a certified Hakomi Therapist and Trainer . He specializes
in consultation as well as individual and couples experientially
oriented, psychodynamically informed psychotherapy.
He is an adjunct professor at JFK University where
he teaches Marriage and Family Therapy and an adjunct
professor at CIIS where he teaches the Theories of
Body Psychotherapy.
He also teaches at the post-graduate level in a number
of agencies and is a speaker at conferences and workshops
around the country such as CAMFT and USABP. He publishes
the Couples Psychotherapy Newsletter, is the author
of Experiential Psychotherapy With Couples, and the
author of a recent chapter in Couples and Body Therapy.

Manuela Mischke Reeds, M.A., MFT, certified
Hakomi Therapist and Trainer, and Somatic Psychotherapist.
She trains health professionals in the Hakomi Method
in San Francisco and Sydney, Australia.
Manuela specializes in integrating somatic psychotherapy,
attachment therapy, pre-perinatal psychology, movement
therapy and somatic trauma work. She is adjunct faculty
at JFK University, Institute Transpersonal Psychology,
Palo Alto and CIIS, San Francisco. She co-developed "Waking
up from the Family Trance", a somatic approach
to exploring and transforming internalized Family Systems.
Manuela is an authorized Continuum Movement Teacher
leading regular Continuum classes in SF and abroad.
She holds a MA in Somatic Psychology from California
Institute of Integral Studies, and a BA in Dance Therapy
from the Naropa Institute. In addition she has trained
in various methods of working with trauma, counseled
survivors of political oppression and torture and victims
of trauma. She is an SE Practioner in the Trauma Resolution
method developed by Peter Levine. Manuela has extensive
training in the field of arts, movement/dance, Buddhist
meditation. She maintains a private practice in Menlo
Park working with individuals, couples and children.

Julie Murphy, Certified Hakomi Trainer,
has been training professionals in Somatics for 17
years. Bringing together years of professional experience
in the fields of anthropology, somatics and the arts,
Julie developed the Mythic Body and co-developed Waking
up from the Family Trance. She holds a degree in Anthropology,
has pursued graduate studies in Contemplative Psychology
at the Naropa Institute and has years of training in
Movement, Somatics and Buddhist meditation practice.
Julie has presented at numerous conferences including
the American Massage Therapy Association, the Hakomi
Institute International Conference, and most recently
for USABP at Johns Hopkins University. Julie teaches

Scott
Eaton, MFT, a Certified Hakomi Therapist and
Trainer, has been facilitating groups and trainings
in the U.S. and Europe for over 30 years. A licensed
psychotherapist for 20 years, Scott specializes in
gay and lesbian issues, spirituality, shame reduction,
PTSD, work with anger and relationship dynamics. An
avid world traveler, Scott has also been a long-standing

Jon Eisman, CHT, is one of the Founding
Members of the Hakomi Institute, and Director of Hakomi
Institute of Oregon. Jon teaches throughout North America
and Europe and is the creator of R-CS,Re-Creation of
the Self, a powerful and innovative tool for working
with psychological parts in therapy, in group work, and
